The San Francisco 49ers and their supporters didn’t need to hear this right now, know the latest injury update of Jimmy Garoppolo
The last thing the team needed was for starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to sustain a season-ending injury at a time when they appeared to be establishing themselves as the NFC’s team to beat. Jimmy G is now expected to miss the season due to a fractured foot, which is the unfortunate news the squad learned following their victory over the Miami Dolphins.

The Niners’ second starting quarterback to be lost for the year is Garoppolo. Trey Lance had already left the team earlier this year.
- Injury: Fractured foot
- Type: Very Serious
- Return: Next Season
Brock Purdy has to step up next.
Brock Purdy, a seventh-round rookie, will now assume control. His selection as the final player in the 2022 NFL Draft earned him the moniker “Mr Irrelevant.” But after helping the Niners defeat the Dolphins 33-17, he is no longer as insignificant.
The 49ers’ chances of winning the Super Bowl now rest with Purdy. If he can continue where Garoppolo left off and take this club far in the playoffs, it will make for quite the tale.
The 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo are willing to extend his deal until 2023.
The two-time Super Bowl champion and the San Francisco 49ers might not be breaking up any time soon. The quarterback led the team to the NFC Championship Game this season before losing the job to second-year player Trey Lance.
The last year of a restructured contract forced Garoppolo back into the starting lineup when an injury struck Lance. Ian Rapoport claims that the 49ers expected to move on but may not be able to. He thinks that this season’s events have changed enough for both the player and the franchise to be agreeable to Garoppolo’s potential return in 2023.
The 49ers are 7-4 under the quarterback, and they stand a good chance of taking home the NFC West title. They would hold the third spot and host a playoff game if the playoffs started right now. Even though they lost a lot of money to move up and choose Lance, it appears that Garoppolo may have successfully reclaimed the starting position. At the very least, he has probably increased the interest of several teams in him.
If the 49ers have to pick between the two, it will be tough for them. Although they moved up to number two overall to acquire Lance, they are confident in Garoppolo’s ability to win them games. It’s not really a big deal to potentially have to choose between two good quarterbacks. That decision would make many teams jealous.
