What was the tweet about?

Over 220,000 people follow the broadcaster, many of whom were stunned by the amusing tweet. A joyful image of pigs and blankets was shared on Stelling’s tweeter, but it had an X-rated twist. The image showed a bacon-wrapped penis in the lower right corner. “Love preparing Xmas dinner, I usually do it in the buff!” was the caption on the post.

Was it Stelling himself or someone else?

Stelling, 67, briefed his followers on what had transpired. He stated: “My nasty sons. All of their gifts are returning! Matt will receive a ticket to a Palace game, and Robbie will just receive a Darlo shirt. FFS !!”

With his wife Liz, Stelling has three children: Olivia, 19, Robbie, 24, and Matthew, 23. And it appeared like Robbie and Matthew were the ones to be blamed for the X-rated post.

The well-known Soccer Saturday host kept the tweet up for a while before deciding to remove it after more than 18 years on the air. When it was pointed out that he had removed the post, he gave the following explanation: “deleted because, despite the fact that my boys and I found it to be amusing and tweeted it, some people were offended.”

Last season, he first declared that he would leave the show, but later that year, he made a spectacular U-turn. Stelling at the time said the following, confirming the public reversal: “My home is Sky Sports, and the Soccer Saturday team plays a significant role in my life.

“I came to the realisation that I wasn’t prepared to blow the final whistle and quit the best job in the world as the season’s end drew near and I was getting ready to say goodbye. I’m happy to be continuing and am looking forward to developing the programme and adding more memorable Saturday afternoons on Sky Sports.”
