About Jay Slater
For context, Jay Slater’s family had spent time in Tenerife working closely with authorities to search for the 19-year-old, who went missing almost a month before a body was discovered on June 17 and identified as Jay.
Members of a mountain rescue team from the Spanish Civil Guard found his body near the village of Masca, close to the final phone tracking data from Jay’s phone.
Reports suggest that he was found in a ravine, with suspicions that the teenager could have fallen into the steep area where he was located.
Jay’s heartbroken mother, Debbie Duncan, spoke of the “pain and trauma” she suffered during the search for her son and after his body was found and identified.
The Chief Executive of charity LBT Global, who had been assisting the family, Matthew Searle, told the media that the obscene levels of trolling had made the loss even more traumatic for the family.
