Jamshedpur Founderโs Day: No entry into the city from 3-5 March
As part of the Tata group, Tata Steel and other company members celebrate the birth anniversary of the founder and his vision of an industrial future centred around community welfare.ย
In the 1870s, J N Tata started his entrepreneurial journey with a textile mill in central India. By laying the foundation for technical education, he helped India leapfrog into the ranks of industrialised nations and inspire the steel and power industries.

The city will be celebrating the day with the theme “GreenovationโMake Tomorrow Green.”
No Entry In The City
All heavy vehicles were barred from entering the city limits from March 3 to 5, 2023. The administration of the East Singhbhum district has issued a directive in this regard. The no-entrance order would be in place every day from 3 p.m. to midnight as per a joint order from Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vijaya Jadhav, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and DSP Traffic Kamal Kishore. According to sources, only buses would be permitted.
GreenovationโMake Tomorrow Green
40 iconic spots across Jamshedpur, including heritage buildings, houses of worship, dozens of roundabouts, etc., will be illuminated with stunning light creations to give the occasion an excitingly colourful image of Alice’s Wonderland.
The official opening of the COVID Warrior Park and the Jamshedpur Nature Trail will be this year’s key draws, among other initiatives.
Warrior Park for COVID
The triangle-shaped park along Straight Mile Road at Bagmati Road, next to Keenan Stadium, has been transformed into COVID Warrior Park in honour of the first responders who assisted individuals in need.ย
Along with the medical professionals from all the hospitals, such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, the park is devoted to security guards.
“It is a modest expression of appreciation for the frontline personnel who toiled tirelessly during a time of need,” Chaudhary continued.
Nature Trail in Jamshedpur
The Jamshedpur Nature Path spans 17 acres from the Circuit House area to Marine Drive, according to the Tata Steel VP. “The job took three years to complete, but it will be a good addition to the city’s green cover,” Chaudhary continued.
Agni Steel Building
The “Agni” steel structure, which Jubilee Park’s Rose Garden had been replaced with, will be officially opened on March 2 by N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons.ย
Jubilee Parkย
According to Ritu Raj Sinha, managing director of Tata Steel UISL, Jubilee Park will be open to the public.
On March 2 in the evening, Chairman N Chandrasekaran will turn on the lights. According to Sinha, the lighting in Jubilee Park will be accessible to walkers from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and to cars from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day from March 3โ5.
The following route will be followed by the vehicle: in from CFE Gate, around the lake turn, through Nicco Park, to the statue area, and out through CFE Gate.
The lighting around the statue area and the lighting along the route from the CFE Gate to the Sakchi Gate to the Baug e Jamsheed Gate and back were also covered by him.
Sinha added that N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, will honour the founder on March 2 evening at Jubilee Park. Jubilee Park won’t have any traffic until March 7 for safety reasons.
Founder’s Day celebrations will take place at Jamshedpur Works on March 3, followed by a programme at Bistupur’s Postal Park. It will have a drive-through attraction for approximately 14 km.
Postal Park
On March 3, 2023, there will be a restriction on vehicles near the Postal Park area from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. On March 3, Chairman of Tata Sons will honour the founder. The Social Organizations’ Pageantry Parade with the subject of “Greennovation” will come after this. There will also be a procession of horse riders, an NCC cadet parade, skits, and nukkad natak, among other things.
Exhibition at Steelennium Hall, Jamshedpur Works’ย
“Greennovation: Making the Future Green” is this time’s exhibition theme at Steelennium Hall. The Chairman of Tata Sons and top Tata Group members will inaugurate the exhibition on the first day.
The exhibition will highlight innovation (such as accelerated use of AI and 3D visualisation models for plants and machinery), resilient supply chains with the ability to handle global disruptions, sustainability and material circularity for a greener tomorrow, technology leadership – such as hydrogen economy, disruptive innovations, and use of renewables -, unlocking the human dimension and developing skills for tomorrow, and organisational agility and excellence.
TechEx 2023 at SNTI
The 13th Science and Technology Exposition, often known as TechEx, will take place at SNTI’s N-Road campus.
This event will showcase the skills and competence of the young minds of SNTI (Management Trainees, Junior Engineer Trainees, Trade Apprentices, and Transgender Cadres), employees of Tata Steel Group companies, and students from various colleges. Tata Steel cadre trainees will prepare 41 of the 59 projects on display. March 2 will mark the opening of the exhibition, which will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from March 3 to 5.
The festivities will be aired on Facebook Live on Tata Steel’s official account, which can be accessed by anybody in the world, and will also be live-streamed for employees.
