James Rodriguez Seals Transfer To Al Rayyan From Everton, Know About His Contract, Salary And Wages

Get up to speed with the transfer news of Premier League club Everton as James Rodriguez joins Al Rayyan along with his salary, contract and wages

Columbian midfielder James Rodriguez leaves Everton after just one year and joins Qatari side Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old joined the Premier League club in 2020 reuniting with former manager Carlo Ancelotti.

This transfer is a repercussion of Ancelotti moving to Real Madrid and the new manager, Rafael Benitez not preferring to play the Columbian. Subsequently, he fell down the pecking order at the Goodison Park under Rafael Benitez and has moved for regular football.

Rodriguez signed a 2-year deal with the Premier League club in 2020 for an annual salary of £4.5 million and was the highest-earning member of the squad. However, he was injury-prone and was just draining the wage bill even further.

Everton have managed to offload £200,000-a-week from their wage bill by the sale of James Rodriguez to Qatar. Meanwhile, Everton’s new manager Rafael Benitez made his intentions clear to the Columbian that he must look elsewhere for game time.

His time at Everton could be summarized as short and sweet because the Columbian only managed to feature in 23 Premier League games. Meanwhile, he found the net 6 times during his one-year spell with the club.

James Rodriguez Career

After playing his initial football in Columbia and Argentina, Rodriguez began his European career with Portuguese club Porto and quickly established himself as a bright young prospect. His talent was recognized by Ligue 1 club Monaco who signed him in 2013 for a transfer fee of around €45 million.

The following year, Rodriguez made his senior debut for Columbia in the World Cup 2014 and shined in the tournament. After a successful World Cup campaign with Columbia, he joined Real Madrid for a transfer fee of around £63 million on a 6-year deal.

He played under Carlo Ancelotti for 3-years until Real Madrid parted ways with the Italian manager who took James to Bayern Munich with him. However, his move to Bundesliga failed due to the high quality of players and his injury problems. James stayed with Bayern for 2 years and managed to feature in 67 games for the club scoring 15 goals.

However, Bayern did not make the loan move permanent and James returned to Real Madrid where he was out of favor. Subsequently, he moved to Premier League club Everton in 2020 to play under Carlo Ancelotti.
