Bop’s pastor, Christopher Tate from El Shaddai Prophetic Ministries, confirmed the news about the artist passing away.
Tate shared about the famous artist:
When I met Gully Bop, he was doing really bad, and to see how he was living, a part of his organ was out. His situation was deteriorating…I was trying to help him, now God has taken him home from this wicked cruel world.”
Gully Bop cause of death
According to reports, Gully Bop passed away after succumbing to a Kidney disease. Gully passed away at Kingston Public Hospital on Monday, October 30, 2023. Prior to his death, Bop struggled with cocaine addiction, and reportedly received a kidney transplant last year. However, the singer’s health never improved despite the new organ and eventually got admitted to the hospital a few months before he passed away.

Bop was reportedly 59 years old at the time of his passing.
Gully Bop’s wife was Deborrah Nicholson, a Canadian woman who he met online in 2015 as claimed by Amari. Shauna Chin his manager was his ex-girlfriend, one of many women he was known to have had controversial relationships with, including Deborrah and A’mar.

Gully Bop, whose real name was Robert Lee Malcolm, was a popular Reggae Singer born in Jamaica. Bop was reportedly living in the streets when he initially gained fame after featuring on video where he was deejaying to the track Body Specialist. The video went viral online back in 2014. After finding some brief musical success the artist, started having health issues before succumbing to a Kidney disease.

Gully Bop was a Jamaican musical street artist who gained fame after appearing in a video recording where he was seen deejaying to the track of Body Specialist on the streets. The video eventually went viral across social media back in 2014. During the time of the video going viral, Gully was homeless, and lived in the streets of Grants Pen, St Andrew. His overnight success eventually earned him a contract with Claims Records, where he put out a debut EP titled Rags to Riches.
Gully Bop was known by the name of Country Man in Jamaica. That same year, Gully closed for Sting at a concert, performing songs like Dem Nuh BadLike We, Dream and Body Specialist. Around 2015, Gully Bop left Claims Records and struggled to work without a manager. He then met his now-former fiance, Shauna Chin, who served as his manager briefly. He enjoyed some short-lived success, but their toxic relationship eventually ended with Chin famously knocking him unconscious using a padlock.
As a result, social media philanthropist Donna Gowe, popularly known as Aunty Donna, made a plea online. She pleaded for funds for the famous entertainer after he fell extremely ill back in August 2023. The troubled artist struggled with substance abuse and eventually went homeless again suffered some health issues. More recently, in 2022, Gully Bop received a kidney transplant but things never improved and in August 2023, he got admitted to Kingston Hospital. He was admitted for several months for the kidney disease which eventually claimed his life.
Gully Bop charges
Back in 2016, authorities arrested Bop in 2016 due to domestic charges from his new partner Amari Mona Lisa, who is a social media personality/artist DJ. Amari accused him of “running her down with a butcher knife” and also stealing her passport and US Green Card. Amari eventually dropped the charges in 2018 before police arrested Gully again after assault charges. A female accused Gully Bop of hitting her during a heated argument around the Nuts River district.
