Ever since the incident, which occurred on March 4, Morant initially received suspension for two matches before the league itself eventually sent him to a rehabilitation program.
Ja Morant suspended for eight matches without pay
The NBA recently announced that Ja Morant will receive an eight-match suspension without pay for conduct detrimental to the league. The NBA revealed in their statement saying:
The league office conducted an investigation of the March 4 incident. Based on the information obtained during the investigation, the league did not conclude that the gun at issue belonged to Morant, was brought by him into the nightclub or was displayed by him beyond a brief period.”
The investigation also did not find that Morant possessed the gun while traveling with the team or in any NBA facility, and the Colorado authorities did not find sufficient cause to charge Morant with a crime.”
Besides the reported incident, the 2023 All Star also recently featured on a Washington Post, which reported that police reports accused Morant of punching a teenager repeatedly during a pickup basketball game.
