The Basketball Africa League has been regarded as the continent’s top most sporting tier after commencing the inaugural season from May 16, 2021. This league has been started by the NBA and FIBA to grow the sport in the African land.

The 36-year old American rapper has always had a soft spot in his heart for the sport of basketball. This isn’t Cole’s first foray into hoops. He was a standout basketball player in high school and played briefly for St. John’s as a walk-on.

Having said that J Cole signed with Patriot on Rwanda based-Patriots Basketball Club in the Basketball Africa League. Cole even made his professional debut for his new team in BAL, scoring 3 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists while playing for 18 minutes on the court. Cole is expected to play three to six games this season.

J Cole’s prolonged basketball career

The way Jermaine Cole scored his point in his BAL debut for Patriots, signified how good he is as a basketball player. The American hip-hop rapper started his love for basketball in North Carloina, With an academic scholarship, he tried out as a walk on at St. John’s University, was one of 10 call-back players during his sophomore year.

In 2020, Cole dropped an article for The Players’ Tribune talking about his passion for the sport of basketball, writing about his goals after graduating college to eventually playing professional basketball. In the same year Jermaine Cole dropped his with basketball shoe in collaboration with Puma called PUMA RS-Dreamer.

Apart from that Cole has often been practicing hoops in New York city and has also seen playing with and against the upcoming American basketball athletes.
