With her focus on the 2023 Asian Games, Indian superstar Mirabai Chanu decided to withdraw from the women’s 49kg after weigh-in. Meanwhile, youngster Shubham Todkar finished in third-place of his group in the men’s 61kg event with a total lift of 269kg.

2023 IWF World Weightlifting Championships updated results, medal winners, & standout weightlifters

According to the official schedule, the 2023 IWF World Weightlifting Championships will run from 4th September through 17th September in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this ongoing prestigious event, top weightlifters will compete against each other across 20 weight classes including 10 for each gender. Notably, the best performers in snatch, clean and jerk, and total weight will each receive a different medal. Athletes must compete in order to win a quota space for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, making it a necessary qualifying event. From India, six weightlifters are participating in this event and although Indian weightlifters haven’t won any medal yet, fans are optimistic of numerous medals.
