Nick Kyrgios was once again seen losing his marbles as he lashed out at the chair umpire for having to collect towels at the US Open 2021
Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 protocols in place at the US Open, players are required to collect their own towels at the marquee competition. However, the norms failed to win over Nick Kyrgios who was left fuming during his first round match.

The Australian who was beaten in straight sets by Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut (6-3, 6-4, 6-0) was given a code violation by the chair umpire over taking too much time between points to wipe himself. Trying to cope with the scorching heat at Flushing Meadows, Kyrgios was seen persistently trying to wipe himself as he was doused in sweat.

However, the umpire’s warning was enough to blow off Kyrgios’ short fuse with him seeing going on a rampage upon being warned for exceeding the shot clock between points. He went onto question the COVID protocols in place along with taking a jibe at Stefano Tsitsipas who had taken colossal breaks during his match with Andy Murray.
“Explain it to me. It doesn’t make any f****** sense,” Kyrgios said to umpire Carlos Bernardes.
“So I have to walk back to the box to wipe my arms because I’m sweating and I get a time violation, but someone can go to the bathroom for 20 minutes and it’s ok?” he continued.
Kyrgios’ tirade has meanwhile faced immense backlash with ardent viewers of the tounrmanet left irked with Nick’s antics yet again. The first round exit he faced at the hands of 18th seeded Roberto Bautista Agut resulted in the Australian’s worst performance ever at a Grand Slam with him being asked to pack his bags without winning a single outing.
