With a total of 15 medals, including five gold, six silver, and four bronze, India continued its successful run in ISSF World Cups by winning yet another stage, this time at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun stage in Changwon, Korea.

The shooting World Cup, which concluded on Wednesday in Changwon, Korea, saw the Indian team finish first in the medals table despite losing the gold in a thrilling rapid-fire pistol team competition.

To advance to the gold match, Anish Bhanwala, Sameer, and Vijayveer Sidhu had to win the second stage. They held a 10-2 lead before the Czech Republic came back to make it a competitive match.

At 15-15, the Czech Republic outhit India, which had shot 10, with 11 of its 15 shots, defeating them despite Anish’s flawless five. Martin Podhrasky and Matej Rampula each had three hits to help the Czech team win the gold medal. Tomas Tehan led the team with five hits.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Muffaddal Deesawala shot 138 in the mixed skeet event but fell two points short of qualifying for the medal round. The team’s opportunity to compete for a medal was lost due to Deesawala’s 18 in the second of the three rounds.

With five gold, six silver, and four bronze medals, India led the table of the 21 nations that received medals.

With four gold, five silver, and three bronze medals, host Korea came in second. A total of 30 gold medals were won by teams from the Czech Republic (4), China (3), Serbia (3), Italy (2), Germany (2), Singapore (2), Australia, France, Britain, Slovakia, and Japan.

Shooting World Cup Results

India led the medal count at the Shooting World Cup in Changwon with five gold medals, six silver medals, and four bronze medals.

India won the first stage of the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, as well as the other four in 2019, one in the shortened 2021 season, and once more this year.
