Admitted at the Beach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for the last 27 days after testing positive for COVID, Lata Mangeshkar was waging a perilous battle for her life in the ICU. And while things looked to be on the uptick as she managed to make a steady recovery, her health once again went onto a downtick with her eventually breathing her last at 8:00am on Sunday.

However, as was seen at the time of CDS General Bipin Rawat and other nationalists demise, anyone who has ever spoken in support of PM Narendra Modi, the BJP or India, Lata Mangeshkar was subjected to deranged abuse by Islamists online. Rafts of comments emerged on social media platforms of them belittling the singer and celebrating her death only because she shared friendly ties with the Prime Minister.
