The ISL is back with a bang from this month onward and football fans all across India can’t wait for the 2021-22 season to kick-off, know its winners list for all the season year wise
Ranked the fourth biggest football league in the world as per Spanish sports business institution Deportes y Finanzas, the Indian Super League 2021-22 season is all set to return from 19th November, 2021. All 11 teams are on the grind ahead of the new season, with ATK Mohun Bagan facing Kerala Blasters in the opening match.
So without further ado, here’s taking a look at the winners of ISL till date, along with its prize money for the winners and the runners-up.

2014-15 Winners: Atk
Coming up as winner of the inaugural season of ISL is Atletico De Kolkata, the most popular franchise in the league. The final was played at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai where ATK beat Kerala Blasters 1-0 with Mohammed Rafique finding the back of the net for the Kolkata based club.
2015-16 Winners: Chennaiyin FC
The Marina Machans clenched the ISL 2015 trophy under the management of their Italian World Cup winning coach Marco Materazzi.
2016-17 Winners: ATK
Making it their second time at attaining ISL glory, ATK MB locked horns with Kerala Blasters once again after 2014 with the match ending 1-1. Ultimately, it was the ruthless Kolkata side that won 4-3 on penalties in Kochi.
2017-18 Winners: Chennaiyin FC
Once again the Marina Machans emerged victorious at the 2017-18 season with head coach John Gregory guiding the team to a superb season. Everyone expected ISL newbies led by Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri to seal the deal in the final at Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore. But it were the former Aston Villa coach’s tactics that left the hosts shocked with Chennaiyin FC winning 3-2 against Chhetri’s Blues.
2018-19 Winners: Bengaluru FC
The Blues worked their way to redemption when they won the 2018-19 ISL title under head coach Carles Cuadrat. Bengaluru FC faced FC Goa in what turned out to be a thrilling 117 minutes of football at the Mumbai Football Arena. The Blues beat FC Goa 1-0 with Rahul Bheke scoring the winner for the former side.
2019-20 Winners: Atk
After two disappointing seasons where they did not reach the play-offs even once, ATK MB brought in their previous title-winning coach Antonio Lopez Habas to mentor the team once again. And just like before, Habas’s magic along with incredible performances from Roy Krishna and David Williams led to ATK making history as the only ISL franchise to have won the competition thrice.
2020-21 Winners: Mumbai City FC
We witnessed a mighty ATK Mohun Bagan get defeated at the hands of an even more dominant Mumbai side under the management of Spanish manager Sergio Lobera. Bipin Singh’s late winner for Mumbai City FC resulted in the franchise winning their first ever ISL title along with an entry into the AFC Champions League.
Indian Super League Prize Money Distribution
Football Sports Development (FSDL) has decided to reallocate the ISL prize money for the 2021-22 season. As per their decision, the League winners will be allocated Rs 3.5 crores, the ISL winner will get Rs 6 crore (previously 8 crore) and the runners-up will get Rs 3 crore (previously 4 crore).
