Match Summary: Jamshedpur FC vs ATK Mohun Bagan

ATKMB needed a 2-0 win to overtake Jamshedpur and second-placed Hyderabad FC, but it was not to be as Ritwik maintained his golden patch with a magnificent strike after Greg Stewart done all the heavy lifting.

In the early stages, the Mariners had more ball control and came near to breaking the deadlock when Tiri’s wild shot went wide. The referee was the busiest person on the field, reaching into his pocket three times to flash yellow cards in the first half and all to Jamshedpur players.

Stewart took control of the game after the change of ends, with his crazy runs and incisive passing, and his hard work paid off four minutes before the hour mark, when the Scotsman snuck by two ATKMB jerseys to cut onto his right and beat his marker.

Stewart attempted a goal himself, but the ball was deflected by an ATKMB player and dropped to Ritwik, who fired first time past Amrinder Singh and into the net.

ATKMB made a valiant effort to rally, but Jamshedpur stood strong and earned three points, becoming the first team in ISL history to win seven games in a row.

Jamshedpur’s revival began last year, when they finished a respectable sixth, bringing an amazing playing style and a blueprint for the future under the renowned English strategist.

Stewart was outstanding for Jamshedpur this season, as was Daniel Chima Chukwu, whose January move to the club proved to be a masterstroke.

It remains to be seen if the freshly crowned League Shield champions will go on to win the ISL title, but they have already had an outstanding season.
