Throwback to the past winners list of the Golden Ball award in every edition of the Indian Super League and the ISL winner prize money in 2023
All of India’s top football players compete in the Indian Super League (ISL), which is the country’s most intense football competition.
Additionally, the league has some solid foreign talent, and in recent years, it has become known as a place where young players may grow.
ISL Golden Ball winners full list and 2023 winner prize money
Here, since the ISL’s beginning in 2014, let us have a look at the Golden Ball winner from each season. The winner is given Rs.5 lakhs.
Iain Hume (Kerala Blasters FC) – 2014
In 2014, the striker was a brilliant addition to Kerala Blasters, scoring five goals and dishing out three assists during the group stage and knockout round.
Stiven Mendoza (Chennaiyin FC) – 2015
Stiven Mendoza made a name for himself with Chennaiyin FC after joining them on loan from Corinthians.
The striker not only won the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards, but he also scored a last-gasp winner to help the team win the league.
Florent Malouda (Delhi Dynamos) – 2016
Florent Malouda was outstanding for Delhi Dynamos in 2016 and ranks among the best foreign players to ever make an impression in the ISL.
He scored three goals and recorded three assists as he guided the team to the semifinal round.
Malouda was awarded the Golden Ball for his contribution despite Delhi losing in the semifinals.
Sunil Chhetri (Bengaluru FC) – 2017/18
Sunil Chhetri, a football legend, is still the only Indian to have won the Golden Ball in ISL history. In 2017/18, the striker scored an astounding 24 goals across all competitions, including 14 goals in the ISL.
Ferran Corominas (FC Goa) – 2018/19
Two-time Golden Boot winner Ferran Corominas was a brilliant obtainment for FC Goa, scoring 48 goals in his three seasons with the team.
Hugo Boumous (FC Goa) – 2019/20
The playmaker was fantastic for Goa in 2019-20, registering 11 assists in addition to 10 goals to win the Golden Ball that year.
Roy Krishna (ATK Mohun Bagan) – 2020/21
Despite scoring 14 goals during the 2020-21 season and winning the Golden Ball, his team was unable to win the league championship. The striker was at the peak of his high-handed form during that time.
Greg Stewart (Jamshedpur FC) – 2021/22
With 10 goals and the Golden Ball trophy to his name at the end of the season, the 32-year-old was a crucial part of the team’s ISL League Winners Shield victory.
