The defending champions of last season, Mumbai City FC have not made the news for any new arrivals but have definitely attracted a lot of attention when they decided to sell one of their most important players, French midfielder Hugo Boumous to Kolkata Giants ATK Mohun Bagan. Mumbai City FC Transfer News ISL 2021-22
French midfielder Hugo Boumous joined Mumbai City FC last season for a record transfer fee after spending three seasons with the Gaurs. He won the tournament with The Blues and has now decided to depart from the team to join ATK Mohun Bagan for a record fee of Rs.18.83m.
The Frenchman is really fast and possesses great ability to create attacks as well as counterattacks. Hugo’s arrival to The Blues added a lot of strength to the team and he was undoubtedly one of the main reasons why Mumbai City FC were able to grab the title last season and now ATK Mohun Bagan can hope to win it this season with him.
Hugo provided a total of seven assists and had scored three goals for The Islanders last season, appearing in 16 ISL matches. The numbers prove that he is unquestionably one of the best foreign players in the league as he has provided 24 assists in 56 matches, which is the highest in the history of ISL.
Another important transfer is that of Mumbai City FC’s goalkeeper Amrinder Singh, who spent his last five seasons with The Blues. The goalkeeper is also set to join ATK Mohun Bagan along with his Mumbai City FC teammate Boumous.
The 28-year old has signed a contract for 5 years with the runners-up of last season. Singh has won the ISL League Shield and the ISL title with The Blues and will now want to achieve similar success when he dons the green and maroon jersey this season.
Mumbai City FC have signed goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz and Amrinder is ready to move to Kolkata for free after appearing in a total of 84 matches for The Blues.
