The sport’s top event, which runs from May 30 to June 7, will feature 297 surfers competing on the world-class waves of La Bocana and El Sunzal from a record-breaking 64 nationalities.

Thanks to the lineup, which includes 28 of the 40 Olympians from Tokyo 2020 as well as world and global Surfing League champions, these nine days will definitely be full with incredible performances and emotion.

Defending champions with two-time World Surfing League champion John John Florence and Olympic champion Carissa Moore leading the way, Team USA is back. Superstars like Olympic silver medalist Kanoa Igarashi of Japan and three-time world champion Sally Fitzgibbons of Australia will be vying for a direct ticket to the Tahiti Olympics next year.

2023 World Surfing host

For the second time, the World Surfing Games are being hosted in Surf City, El Salvador. On the La Bocana and El Sunzal waves, teams from France, Japan, and Portugal had the best results in the first competition, which was held in 2021 and served as the last opportunity to qualify for Tokyo 2020.
