Brief Bio and career
Umran Malik was born on 22 November 1999 and hails from Gujjar Nagar Jammu. He is currently 23 years old and stands at a height of 180 cm.
Umran made his Twenty20 debut back in 18 January 2021, while playing for Jammu & Kashmir in the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He later made his List A debut on 27 February 2021 once again during the 2020–21 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In September 2021, Umran featured for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 Indian Premier League. He was included as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for another Indian pacer T Natarajan.
Umran he made his international debut for India back in June 2022 against Ireland, whereas he made his One Day International debut in November 2022 against New Zealand.
Notable Career Achievements And Accomplishments
Back in April 2021, Umran was selected as one of three net bowlers for the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). Umran later made his IPL debut, against Kolkata Knight Riders on 3 October 2021.
However, he made his first notable appearance during a match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. During the match, Umran bowled five consecutive balls at more than 150 kmph.
Following this impressive performance, Umran was selected as a net bowler for the team India team in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He also went on to make his first-class debut for India A on 23 November 2021 against South Africa A.
The 23-year-old later rejoined Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2022 auction. During an IPL clash that same year in 27th April against the Gujarat Titans, Umran claimed his first five-wicket haul in Twenty20 cricket.
Umran’s performances, earned him the Emerging Player of the tournament title. Notably, in May 2022, Umran also featured in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad ahead of their series against South Africa. He then went on to feature in India’s T20I squad for their two-match series against Ireland the next month.
