Tomorrow marks the release of F1 22 for early access customers, however, the lack of cross-platform and crossplay multiplayer support at launch is somewhat surprising
Even though the delay is unfortunate, Codemasters’ most recent game still has a lot to offer. The always-fun career mode is back, DualSense capabilities are exclusive to PlayStation players, and the game looks more gorgeous and lifelike than ever.
In the future, you’ll be able to play alongside friends on several platforms, but at launch, you’ll have to stick with the same console family.
Is The F1 22 Game Cross Platform, Crossplay And Cross-Gen Status
Although cross-platform multiplayer is not now available in the video game F1 22, it will be soon.
Lee Mather, the senior creative director of the game explained to Racing Games the Ukrainian location of the studio, “Codemasters has collaborated with is the reason why the feature won’t be accessible right away.”
Mather merely stated that it “is going to take a little bit longer than intended,” not indicating when the feature will be released.
When the feature does go live, PlayStation, Xbox, & PC will all be able to use it. Even though cross-play isn’t available at launch. F1 22 does enable cross-gen multiplayer, so PS4 and PS5 owners can play together. And Xbox One owners can play with Series X/S owners.

This is confirmed on the Dual-Entitlement page for the game. There is no free upgrade first from the previous generation to the next generation for Dual-Entitlement.
If you purchase the Champions edition, you only get F1 22 for last- and current-gen consoles. You must purchase it again on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S if you purchase the Standard version on PS4 or Xbox One.
