The Dalai Lama grabbed eyeballs after a video surfaced of him kissing a little boy on the lips and later asking him to suck his tongue. The video was from an event that occurred on February 28, 2023, and quickly went viral. People around the world criticised him for his act.
At the same time, people are getting more curious to know more about the spiritual leader and are digging deeper to know about his personal life.
Does The Dalai Lama Have A Wife?
Tenzin Gyatso, the current Dalai Lama, has never married anyone. He calls himself a “simple Buddhist monk” and was identified as the previous Dalai Lama’s reincarnation when he was just two years old.
To live as a monk requires giving up marriage and close relationships in favour of focusing on spirituality.
A few monks have chosen to forego their obligations in order to get married and have wives. Yet, the current Dalai Lama has remained single his entire life, devoting himself entirely to monastic studies, rituals, and obligations.
The Dalai Lama, who is regarded as a man of peace, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. Additionally, he has written or collaborated on more than 110 books.
An Apology Was Issued On Behalf Of The Spiritual Leader
The spiritual leader acknowledged his sadness over the incident in a lengthy apology posted on his official Twitter account.
The statement was issued, stating, “His Holiness wishes to express his regret to the youngster, his family, and all of his friends around the globe for any harm that may have been brought about by his works.”
It further read, “His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras.” “He regrets the incident.”
