Jacy Sheldon pokes Caitlin Clark in the eye
The incident took place in the third quarter of the clash between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun in the Commissioner’s Cup. During the game, as Caitlin Clark tried to back Jacy Sheldon down near the key, Sheldon proceeded to poke Clark in the eye. Clark simply retaliated with a shove, following which Marina Mabrey charged in and knocked her to the ground from behind.
Upon review from the referees, the match officials upgraded Sheldon’s foul to a flagrant, while Clark and Tina Charles received offsetting technicals. Meanwhile, Mabrey also got hit with a technical but avoided ejection. Even after the incident, Sheldon stayed aggressive till the final stretch before getting ejected alongside Sophie Cunningham after another hard foul confrontation in the fourth quarter.
