An American television host and lawyer, Sunny Hostin, is making headlines after she came under fire in Monday for speaking about race and color in the context of NFL players and claimed that Patrick Mahomes was black
For those who are unaware, let us tell you the co-host of ‘The View,’ reportedly said that, “Black quarterbacks can lead teams.”
The 54-year-old journalist used the comment 5p referring to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, who led their team’s to Super Bowl LVII and became the first Black QBs to face off each other in the game.

If you’re unversed, let us tell you, the son of the former Major League Baseball, pitcher Pat Mahomes’ became the third Black quarterback to win the Super Bowl after Williams in 1988 and Russell Wilson in 2014.
As per a report by Metro League, Hurts made his Super Bowl debut against the 27-year-old who enrolled at the University of Texas as a freshman in 2015. Following year, he started playing for the Texas Longhorns as a quarterback before finally joining hands with Kansas City Chiefs in 2017.
Now coming back to the question in hand, is Patrick Mahomes black, let us tell you, Patrick who was born on September 17, 1995, to Randi Martin, who’s white, and Pat, who’s Black.
His father, Pat, was a famous MLB pitcher who played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburg Pirates.
On the other hand, his mother, Martin, worked as a event planner at Hollytree Country Club since 2005. She is involved with the kids’ charity Variety Kc.
Speaking about his heritage, social media users are divided into two, some claiming he is black while other saying he is “not full Black.”
In an earlier conversation, the professional footballer said, “I’ve seen how people, on Twitter, have tweeted and said, ‘Oh, you’re not full Black.’ But I’ve always just had the confidence and believed in who I am.
“And I’ve known that I’m Black. And I’m proud to be Black. And I’m proud to have a white mom too. I’m just proud of who I am. And I’ve always had that confidence in myself.”
