Enzo Fernandez has recently garnered attention, not solely for his on-field prowess, but due to a clip that surfaced on social media, sparking controversy with some accusing him of being racist and not giving his jersey to a black boy
Known for his standout performances for the Blues in recent matches, including a remarkable free-kick against Aston Villa and a crucial late goal versus Crystal Palace, Fernandez has become a beloved figure at Stamford Bridge.
Is Enzo Fernandez racist and did he really deny giving a black boy his jersey as video goes viral on Twitter/X
However, a post-match moment captured on camera has led to disappointment and anger among fans.
Hate people that caught up on pushing racism.
I don’t like Chelsea and I don’t care for Enzo Fernandez, but calling him racist?!
Literally plays in a squad full of black players.
He was giving his shirt to a kid in a river plate shirt too..
Fuck off with ya race card. https://t.co/X4mCiuU1MN pic.twitter.com/0hmEoeAxUf

In the video shared on X/Twitter, Fernandez appears to offer his jersey to a fan but seemingly disregards several other children also vying for it.
This action has led to accusations of racism from a portion of football X/Twitter, particularly because he seemed to ignore Black boys in the front row in favor of handing his jersey to a man at the back.

While some swiftly labeled Fernandez as racist, others argued that it could simply be a matter of preference. Fernandez’s impact on the pitch was further highlighted by a spectacular goal in the final minutes of the game, where he skillfully maneuvered past a defender before calmly slotting the ball into the top left corner of the net.
X/Twitter Accuses Fernandez of Racism
Despite a Twitter post accusing Fernandez of racism gaining significant traction, not all viewers were convinced, as some dug deeper into the incident. It became apparent that the recipient of the jersey was a River Plate supporter, a fact that naturally caught Fernandez’s attention, given his history with the club.
Critics blamed the individual who shared the video for fueling unwarranted negativity, while others provided evidence of the fan’s allegiance to River Plate, dispelling the allegations of racism.
Some even criticized the behavior of the Black supporters, suggesting they were being aggressive in their attempts to obtain the jersey. Amidst the controversy, some observers lamented the tendency to view everything through the lens of racism.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino and his team may not have achieved the Premier League standing they had hoped for at the season’s outset, but consecutive victories against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have injected confidence into the squad.
With uncertainty lingering over Fernandez’s future, a late surge for a European spot remains a possibility, especially after a convincing 3-1 victory away from home.
