Sam was raised in a culture that emphasized tenacity and community. Both of his parents, Jim and Pamela Konstas, are of Greek descent; Jim is from Kalamata, and Pamela is from Patras.

He has a twin brother, Johnny, and Billy is his older brother.

Konstas’ brother Billy, who is a physiotherapist by profession, revealed how his father’s error helped his younger brother learn tackling pace bowling from an early age.

“We were little kids and the first time dad took us to a bowling machine, he had it on 90 miles an hour, thinking it was 90 kilometres,” Billy told Fox Cricket.

“Dad fed the machine, and he hit it straight out of the middle. I think from the age of five or six years old, this has always been his dream. It’s a dream come true for all the family and feel very blessed and thank God for being here.”

Sam played for St George and Sutherland and graduated to first-class cricket only last year.

Sam Konstas was included in the Australia under-19 team’s squad for a July 2023 tour to England, where they would play the England under-19 cricket team. on November 2023, he faced Tasmania on his first-class debut. Konstas signed his first professional contract with the Sydney Thunder in December 2023. Later that month, Konstas was named as part of the Australian squad for the 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup

On October 8, 2024, against South Australia, Sam Konstas scored 152 runs off 241 deliveries to record his first-ever century in first-class cricket. In the second innings of the same game, Konstas scored another century, becoming the youngest Sheffield Shield player to do so since Ricky Ponting in 1993.

Sam Konstas was chosen for the India Vs Australia squad following a strong start to the 2024–25 Sheffield Shield season.

In the third game of the 2024–25 Big Bash League season at Canberra’s Manuka Oval, Konstas made his Big Bash League debut for the Sydney Thunder against the Adelaide Strikers in December 2024. Konstas was included in the Australian 15-man Test team for the 2024 Boxing Day Test against India on December 20, 2024.

He received his Baggy green awarded to him by former Australian Captain Mark Taylor. He went on to have a successful debut as an opener, amassing a quick 60 runs with a number of unconventional ramp shots.
