44-year-old Sonia Bompastor was born in Blois on June 8, 1980. She is 5ft 4in tall. Bompastor started playing football at a young age. Her parents are from Póvoa de Varzim, and the majority of her family still resides there. She is of Portuguese descent.
While she is unmarried, it is claimed that she Camille Abily who aren’t out yet have been dating for quite some time after Sonia broke up with her boyfriend. However, these are just rumors for now, but Sonia already has 4 kids with two being twins. Her eldest, age nine daughter Louane was born in Blois back in 2015.
Bompastor also brought her assistant coach and partner Camille Abily to London as part of the deal, despite both being contracted through 2025 at the French club.
Of Portuguese origin, both of her parents are from Póvoa de Varzim and most of her family still lives in the area and has a brother named Pedro while her father is Joachim.
Bompastor told Ma Chaîne Sport that whenever she gets the chance, she always travels to Povoa. Her father was a referee, which drew her to football. Bompastor soon became attracted to the game when he took her to several of the games he officiated on the weekends.
Sonia Bompastor career
French football manager and former player Sonia Bompastor currently leads Chelsea in the English Women’s Super League. She is the first manager and player to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Bompastor played left defense as well as midfield, ideally on the left side. After moving to the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league in the US, Bompastor won Player of the Month and All-Star awards. She was also a two-time recipient of the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) Female Player of the Year award.
In 1988, Bompastor joined the US Mer to start playing football. She joined US Thoury in 1992. Bompastor was chosen to join a select group of female players at the nationally renowned Clairefontaine academy that same year.
She declared in 2010 that she would return to Lyon for the 2010–11 campaign, and she later played for the squad that won the UEFA Women’s Champions League in that year. Bompastor was named manager of Lyon’s first team in 2021.
Bompastor was hired as Chelsea’s manager on May 29, 2024, for a four-year term. On September 20, 2024, she oversaw Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Aston Villa in her debut game.
