As the premiere date of Black Knight draws near, many viewers are wondering if the show is based on an existing Webtoon or manga, or if it is an original creation

Know more about the Black Knight
The series lasted from 2017 to 2019 under its original title, Taekbaegisa (or “Delivery Knight” in English), before moving to the Webtoon medium. In addition to the first three chapters, which can be read for free in English, Fast Pass subscribers have access to five additional episodes of the Black Knight Webtoon. You can get the Webtoon app from the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device.
After being offered the part, main actor Kim Woo-bin read the Black Knight Webtoon, but he found that learning the full backstory of episodes 5-8 diverted him from the film’s plot.
“I did check out the webcomic when they offered me the part. The webtoon served as inspiration for the TV show, so I naturally read it. Despite its inspiration from the webcomic, the novel features an original plot and setting. The director suggested I check out the webcomic, but warned me to expect significant changes. I did read it, but my attention was primarily on the screenplay.”
Know more about VFX in Black Knight
One of the most stunning features of Netflix’s Black Knight TV series is the aesthetics; picturing Seoul as a post-apocalyptic wasteland never ever appeared so gorgeous, though not very eery.
In reality, the Westworld production team of 180 artists and VFX professionals spent 10 months just on the visual side of Black Knight during post-production, collecting data and photos from real-world weather cycles to create the wasteland and apocalyptic landscape for the series.
Yellow Dust and Sandstorms in Black Knight
The team used information gathered from yellow dust and sandstorms in Mongolia and China, as well as a B-roll film of the Bayanzag cliffs and the Khongoryn Els dunes in the Gobi Desert, to realistically depict this future landscape. Netflix’s director of visual effects, Sunny Park, was pleased to announce the company’s “Great and trusted relationship with Westworld established on trust over the years.”
