IPL Retention List 2022: Top 20 Most Expensive Retained Players

The franchisees have retained their top players ahead of the 2022 IPL auctions, know the most expensive player in the retention list

Every team had the options of retaining only four players. The teams could only retain players in this combination – two Indians and two overseas or three Indians and one overseas. On 30 November, eight teams decided to retain their top players ahead of the auctions.

Rishabh Pant : Retained by Delhi Capitals for 16 Crores

Virat Kohli : Retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 15 Crores

Kane Williamson : Retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 14 Crores

Sanju Samson : Retained by Rajasthan Royals for 14 Crores

MS Dhoni : Retained by Chennai Super Kings for 12 Crores

It will be interesting to see how many players franchisees will take back in the auctions. A lot of players have released by the franchisee who would have easily made it to the playing XI of their teams.

This is the third instance when teams have gone into the mega auctions. In 2011, two new teams, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India were added in the tournament. All the teams had to prepare an entirely different combination as their best players were acquired by other franchisees.

The 2018 auctions was the second instance when the teams had a mega auction. Now that two new teams- Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added, teams will head into the mega auctions and will try their best to get their best players back.
