Mumbai Indians became the last team to earn a spot in the knockout rounds of the Indian Premier League 2023. If RCB had won their final match, they would have advanced, but Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, won by six wickets on Sunday to ensure RCB finished in sixth place and Mumbai Indians qualified for the playoffs.
Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, and Chennai Super Kings, the four-time champions, will square off in the opening playoff game. This match is considered as the Qualifier-1, whose winner will directly qualify for the final and the loser will earn their second chance in Qualifier-2. In the Eliminator, the third- and fourth-place teams in the points standings face off. Krunal Pandya’s Lucknow Super Giants will compete against Rohit Sharma’s five-time champion Mumbai Indians in this match.
