Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who hails from Bihar, India, is just 13 years and 243 days old and the youngest-ever player to join the IPL. The youngster joined the Rajasthan Royals for a staggering ₹1.1 crore during and became the youngest player ever to be auctioned in IPL history. Vaibhav is the youngest batter to score an international century and made his Ranji Trophy debut at just 12.
Ayush Mhatre
17-year-old Ayush Mhatre is a promising cricketer from Mumbai who has impressed with his performances in domestic cricket. He caught the attention of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction and even received a trial invitation. The invitation comes following Mhatre’s notable performances, where he scored 176 runs against Maharashtra during the Ranji Trophy.
Andre Siddharth
Despite being one of the youngest players in the auction, 18-year-old batter Andre Siddharth failed to attract any interested buyers. However, he continues to be a talented young cricketer and will likely get future opportunities in the coming future.
Kwena Maphaka
Another talented youngster who went unsold is 18-year-old Kwena Maphaka, who is a young pacer from South Africa. Despite being part of the auction pool, Maphaka failed to attract any bids from any of the franchises. Maphaka has previously played for the Mumbai Indians during the previous edition of the IPL.
Allah Ghazanfar
Mumbai Indians signed upcoming 18-year-old spinner Allah Ghazanfar from Afghanistan for ₹4.8 crore. The youngster made headlines during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction following the acquisition. Ghazanfar gained prominence during the 2024 U-19 World Cup, where he took eight wickets in four matches.

James Anderson
England’s legendary fast-bowler James Anderson entered the IPL 2025 Mega Auction as the oldest player at 42 years and 117 days. He was the oldest player among the 577 final list of names. The veteran England pacer, who made his international debut in 2002, has never joined any franchise cricket league before. And following the mega auction, he remained that way as no franchise came forward to purchase him.
Faf Du Plessis
40-year-old South African batter Faf Du Plessis, who is known for his consistency and class, was one of the oldest players in this year’s auction. He has amassed over 4,500 IPL runs and guided the Royal Challengers Bangalore to the playoffs last season. For the upcoming campaign, he will play for the Delhi Capitals after they purchased him for ₹2 crore.
Mohammad Nabi
40-year-old Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi was one of the first two Afghans to ever play in the IPL. He started out his IPL career back in 2017 with Sunrisers Hyderabad before playing for the Mumbai Indians last season. He has also previously featured for KKR but never played for them. Despite his vast IPL experience, he went unsold in this year’s auction.
Ravichandran Ashwin
38-year-old Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin sparked a bidding frenzy in this year’s IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Ashwin started out at ₹2 crore as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Rajasthan Royals all clashed to secure his services. CSK ultimately signed him for an impressive ₹9.75 crore.
David Warner
38-year-old Australia batter David Warner, who is one of the oldest faces in the IPL circuit, went unsold in this year’s auction. He is a former IPL-winning captain but none of the franchises picked him during the two-day event. Ahead of the auction, Delhi Capitals did not retain him and he set his base price at ₹2 crore. After going unsold during first round, Warner did not even return for the accelerated round.
