Role of IPL cheerleaders

Following a hiatus due to Covid-19 protocols, the IPL cheerleaders are finally back in this year’s edition of the IPL. The role of an IPL cheerleader is to keep the crowd entertained and on their feet through their performances whenever a player hits a four or six or takes a wicket. Aside from that, they also put up various performances during drinks and inning breaks to keep the energy in the stadium high.

Salary of cheerleaders per match in IPL 2023

According to various reports, teams like CSK, Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals pay their cheerleaders a salary of over ₹12,000 per match. Meanwhile, other reports state that the average salary for an IPL cheerleader ranges between ₹14,000 to ₹17,000 per match.

Some teams like the Mumbai Indians and RCB pay their cheerleaders approximately ₹20,000. The highest-paid cheerleaders in IPL 2023 are from KKR, who get paid around ₹24,000 per match. Aside from their base salary, cheerleaders also receive a bonus depending on their performances. They also receive a bonus if their team wins the match.

Apart from their salary, cheerleaders also get different benefits and perks. Cheerleaders get luxury accommodation, food per diem, and other various facilities throughout their stay in India.

IPL 2023 IPL cheerleaders selection process

The IPL cheerleader selection process is quite difficult and features a series of interviews and written evaluations. IPL cheerleaders should also have prior experience in dancing, modelling, and performing in front of large crowds. Preference is also given to cheerleaders who are part of a group or are auditioning as a group. Besides that, cheerleaders also need to have a performance ready whenever they audition for the part of an IPL cheerleader.
