IPL Auction 2023 Season RCB Predicted Target And Retained Players List

IPL Trading Window

The IPL 2023 auction will go down around mid-December. However, the trading window will be open a month before the auction begins.

Instead of just looking to strengthen their squad, RCB will also need to release some of their own players.

Given below are 3 players that RCB may trade out in the IPL 2023 trading window:

Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma is currently out of favour at RCB, after failing to make the starting eleven in all of RCB’s 16 matches.

The RCB management seemed to have lost their trust on the leg-spinner. Karn has an experience of 68 IPL matches, and has been part of multiple IPL winning squads (SRH, MI, CSK).

However, he has never been able to set the stage alight with his individual performances. Moreover, RCB will be back to playing at the Chinnaswamy, where there is nothing for the spinners.

Therefore, with Hasaranga and Shahbaz Ahmed as the two frontline spinners, RCB might trade off Karn in the upcoming trading window.

Jason Behrendorff

32-year-old Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff is an overseas player whom RCB might consider trading-off.

Behrendorff has been in the IPL since 2018 but has only played in five matches. All of these five games came in the 2019 season for MI. This is mainly because he is predominantly a new-ball bowler, and injury prone.

RCB already have Hazlewood, Willey and Siraj along with Maxwell to bowl with the new ball’ So Jason Behrendorff, like last season, would most likely sit on the bench.

Coupled with his age and fitness issues, RCB might trade him to a team that wants an overseas new-ball pacer.

Siddarth Kaul

Despite reuniting with his 2008 under-19 captain, Virat Kohli, at RCB this year, the pacer couldn’t emulate the success from then or from his SRH days.

The 32-year-old featured in just one match this season where he leaked 43 runs for no wicket. Moreover, Siddarth Kaul hasn’t made any ground-breaking performances in the recent domestic season as well.

RCB’s strength in IPL 2022 was their pace attack, and they have players with a mixture of experience and youth.

So, Kaul’s chances for game time next year seems unlikely, and RCB could be better off by trading him away.
