2024 Indian Premier League: Fair Play Award standings
In the IPL, franchises accumulate points based on Fair Play Away rules, which promote sportsmanship. These rules evaluate teams’ behavior and conduct during matches. Teams can earn bonus points for displaying fair play actions, while points are deducted for engaging in foul play or unnecessary confrontations. After each match, two on-field umpires and a third official assess the performances of both teams.
A team can earn a maximum of 10 points per game, with four points awarded for adhering to the rules of the game. Additionally, respect towards the opposing team, adherence to cricket’s rules, and respect for the umpires are each worth two points. If a team meets the criteria for earning two points in each category, its performance is considered “good”; otherwise, it’s labeled as “average” or “poor,” with one or zero points.
