With the IPL 2023 season now nearing the end of the league stages, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are eager to qualify for the playoffs, find out more about their playoffs qualification scenario and chances

With nine other IPL franchises currently battling for a spot in the IPL 2023 Playoffs, RCB need to bring their top game to qualify for the top four.
IPL 2023 playoffs and finals qualifications criteria
The IPL 2023 playoffs will feature the top four teams from the league stage compete in four matches. The four matches are – Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and then the Final match.
Firstly, the top two teams will face each other in the Qualifier 1 where the winner will earn a direct entry into the final. The loser of that match will get a second chance via Qualifier 2, where they will face off against the winner of the Eliminator match. The Eliminator match will feature the third and fourth placed team in a knockout match.
IPL current points standings
Currently, RCB are level on 12 points with three other teams – Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings. However, RCB has a slightly better Net Run Rate compared to the other three teams.
Meanwhile, the other teams that currently make up the top four are:
- Gujarat Titans (16 points)
- Chennai Super Kings (15 points)
- Mumbai Indians (14 points)
- Lucknow Super Giants (13 points)
DC (8 points) and SRH (8 points) are the last placed teams on the pints table.
While RCB, have a better NRR compared to MI, RR and KKR, it is slightly inferior to LSG and CSK. In order to improve their chances of qualifying for the playoffs, RCB need to win their remaining match and secure a good NRR.
RCB IPL 2023 Playoffs Qualification Scenario
Following major wins over RR and SRH, RCB have impressive Net Run Rate and playoff chances. However, the franchise still needs to win their remaining match to ensure a direct qualification spot.
As things stand, if RCB manage to win their remaining match, they will gather 16 points and hence secure a great chance of finishing in the top four. They could even secure a top two spot depending on the results of the other teams around them. Their NRR will be a key aspect in this regard if RCB end up on 16 points.
If MI, CSK, and LSG all lose their remaining matches, they all finish on 15 or lesser points. RCB will next face against GT and they will need to beat them to confirm a top four spot. If all these factors work out in their favor, RCB has a good chance of finishing in the top two.
