On the final day of the league round of the 2023 IPL, there was a lot of drama and entertainment. Mumbai Indians earned a spot in the playoffs alongside Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants.
At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, MI defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets to start the day, moving Royal Challengers Bangalore to fifth spot and moving MI up to fourth. RCB needed to defeat GT in the league’s final game to displace MI from the final playoff spot, but a loss meant they came in sixth.
Thanks to Cameron Green’s undefeated innings of 100 runs off 47 balls, MI quickly reached 201/2 in 18 overs while chasing a target of 201 runs. While all was going on, captain Rohit Sharma scored a crucial half-century, smashing 56 off 37 deliveries. Mayank Dagar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each grabbed a wicket for the SRH bowling unit.

RCB supporters went into meltdown after MI’s triumph and Bengaluru’s weather. The match got underway with Virat Kohli smashing a classic undefeated century as soon as the rain ceased.
Kohli’s undefeated innings of 101 runs off 61 balls helped RCB reach 197/5 in 20 overs, which allowed them to reach their target of 198 runs. Noor Ahmad was in great shape for GT and eliminated two players.
In order to help GT reach 198/4 in 19.1 overs and win by six wickets as they attempted to chase down a total of 198 runs, Gujarat’s very own centurion, Shubman Gill, hammered 104* runs off 52 deliveries. The RCB bowling staff’s two wickets came from Mohammed Siraj.
After GT’s victory, the Hardik Pandya-led team finished the league phase on top of the standings with 20 points after 14 games. CSK was in second place with 17 points. LSG (17) are in third place, followed by MI (16), RCB (14), and RR (14), who are in fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively.
The bottom of the standings is made up of Punjab Kings (12), Delhi Capitals (10) and SRH (8).
