The IPL 2023 is also set to return with the usual home and away format for matches, which will surely affect some of the decisions behind the sales in the auction.

IPL 2023 Mini Auction Date And Venue

The mini-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) will take place on the 16th of December later this year.

The venue for the mini-auction will be Bengaluru, where the mega auction for the previous IPL took place.

Expected Purse Limit Increase

Besides the reported mini-auction, the BCCI is also expected to add an extra 5 crore INR to the purse of all 10 franchises. If this is true, the total purse limit will now stand at 95 crore INR.

In the previous IPL 2022 mega auction, the total purse limit was 90 crore INR for each franchise.

However, team spendings for the IPL 2023 mini-auction will depend on how many players each team retains from the squad that they had assembled in the last mega-auction and how many players they release.

Depending on those factors, the BCCI will adjust the purse accordingly if any franchise trades off the players.

If indeed an extra 5 crore INR is added, it will be added to the purse of all the 10 franchises. This is excluding the purse that they are left with after their retentions, release, and trade-offs.

Home And Away Format Set For IPL 2023 Return

Last season, all the franchises assembled their squads while noting that the usual home and away format might change.

The franchises chose their players with the thought that matches will be played at certain venues.

However, the BCCI has now confirmed that that the home and away format will be back for IPL 2023.

This news is surely set to affect how some of the franchises make their decisions for the upcoming mini-auction. Teams will be looking at conditions and pitches at their home venue where they will play at least seven games.

If this happens as expected, many franchises will release a lot of players and the trade-offs as well.
