Each season, the team with the finest track record of fair play receives the Fair Play Award. The umpires’ points awarded to the teams serve as the foundation for determining the winner. The two on-field umpires and the third umpire score the performance of both teams after each game. A team may receive a maximum of ten points every game, of which four are awarded for upholding the spirit of the game.

Respect for the opposition, cricket’s rules, and umpires make up the other three criteria. These three requirements each carry two points. A team’s performance is rated as “good” if it receives two points on the criterion; otherwise, it is rated as “average” or “bad” if it receives one or zero points.
