IPL 2021 In UAE: 5 Mistakes BCCI made which led to getting suspended

As the IPL in UAE gets shifted due to on-going Covid-19 pandemic, let’s take a look at the top 5 mistakes committed by the BCCI.

Ever since the buzz for IPL 2021 started, there were a handful of players who pulled themselves out due to the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in India and many continued to do so during the on-going IPL as well. With the failure of BCCI to keep the bio-bubble fully protected, the cases crept in the CSK and KKR camp as well along with 5 DDCA Groundsmen also contracting the virus.

Having said tat let’s take a look a look at the 5 mistakes BCCI made which led to the 14th edition of IPL in UAE getting Shifted

1. Weak Bio Bubble

There were many players from different teams who opted their way out of the cash-rich league due to bio-bubble fatigue and fear of Covid. After which BCCI claimed that they have taken care of all the precautionary measure to keep each player safe. But ever since 6 players contracted the virus with the IPL reaching just mid-way, this affirmation from BCCI was completely false.

2. Six Playing Venues

With the IPL being held in 6 cities of India- Kolkata, Delhi, Ahemdabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore with no spectators watching. It was rather an unnecessary model chosen by BCCI which enforced the players to travel from city to city. This was another blunder which caused the IPL 2021 edition to get suspended.

3. IPL in India and no UAE

There were many stakeholders who suggested to host the IPL 2021 cricketing bonanza in UAE only, especially after the successful 2020 season. But BCCI remained adamant on hosting the 14th edition within the country.

4. No Safety Mechanism

In the previous edition of the IPL in UAE, BCCI hired a UK-Based Company called Restrata to keep in check of the players strictly adhering to the bio-bubble rules. This medium also turned out to be very safe for the players but for the IPL 2021 edition no such measure was taken.

 5. Management

There was an instance where the Mumbai Indians team was placed in a hotel which was 10kms away from the match venue. Not only that the hotel was part of a commercial complex as well. This signifies that BCCI was not at all attentive with their plans and teams were made to stay at random hotels.
