Van Barneveld, a five-time World Champion, effectively defeated White at the Sparkassen-Arena by hitting six doubles in a calculated performance. The matchup between Van Barneveld and defending World Champion Wright will be one of Saturday’s second round matches highlights.
Aside from Geert Nentjes, two more Dutch players advanced to the second round of the PDC European Tour competition with 6-0 victories on Friday. They will face Krzysztof Ratajski and Martin Schindler, respectively.
