On the 2022 PDC Pro Tour, the Interwetten Austrian Darts Open was the fourth of thirteen PDC European Tour tournaments. From April 29 to May 1, 2022, the event was place at the Steiermarkhalle in Premstätten. It had a field of 48 players and a prize pool of £140,000, with the winner receiving £25,000.
Michael van Gerwen came into the tournament as the defending champion, having won the 2019 final 8–7 against Ian White. With an 8–5 victory over Danny Noppert in the final, he successfully defended his title.
PDC Interwetten Austrian Darts Grand Prix 2022 Tournament Format
The top 16 entrants from the PDC ProTour Order of Merit on March 16th were automatically qualified for the second round and seeded. The remaining 32 seats were filled by players from six qualifying tournaments, including 24 spots in the Tour Card Holder Qualifier.
All matches in the first, second, third, and quarterfinal rounds were played over the best of 11 legs. All of the semi-final matchups were best of 13 legs. The Best of 15 Legs format was used in the Final.

Finals Day on Sunday brought the competition to a close, with the last 16 taking part in the afternoon session and the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final taking place in the evening.
Van Gerwen avenged his Premier League loss to James Wade in the last 16 tie by winning the last-leg decider and advancing to the quarter-finals against Dirk van Duijvenbode. Van Gerwen’s most remarkable performance of the weekend was a 6-1 triumph over his countryman, followed by a 7-5 semi-final victory over Stephen Bunting.
Noppert came back from 3-0 down in the final, hitting a 120 checkout along the way, to tie the match at 3-3, and the duo remained tied at 5-5 four legs later. Van Gerwen struck a 14-dart break of throw to open up gap at 7-5, then followed up with another 14-darter to take victory in the 12th leg.
