Inter Milan and Lazio will lock horns in their second meeting in the 2024/25 Serie A campaign on match day 37
As of the time of writing, Inter Milan have picked up 74 points from 35 games and they are placed second on the log. Lazio are ranked 6th with 63 points from the same number of games.
For Inter Milan, this is an important game. Simone Inzaghi and his boys would feel that they should have rounded up the Scudetto by now, but they have lost concentration in recent weeks, and that has handed the advantage to Napoli who have jumped to the top and hold a three-point lead.
Nerazzurri started their Scudetto defense on a bad note, as they were forced to a 2-2 draw at Genoa. After playing 1-1 at halftime, Inter Milan got the lead in the 86th minute, courtesy of Marcus Thuram. But they capitulated and lost the game, courtesy of a 95th-minute strike from Junior Messias. Nonetheless, they recovered from that defeat and claimed two wins on the bounce against Lecce and Atalanta. After that, they went to Brianteo to play a 1-1 draw against Monza. After that game, they lost to AC Milan in the Milan derby. However, they returned to winning ways in their next game, defeating Udinese 3-1. Since then, they have gone on an unbeaten streak. Inter Milan defeated Torino 3-2. Then, they went to Rome to defeat Roma 1-0. They stumbled against Juventus in their next game, where they settled for a 4-4 draw. Once again, they capitulated, surrendering a 4-2 lead.
The reigning Serie A kings have many quality players, and they picked up again in the game that followed with a handsome 3-0 win over Venezia. They then defeated Venezia 1-0 after that, before playing out a 1-1 draw against Napoli just before the international break. Inter then went on a winning run of eight games in their next nine to gain control of the situation. In January, they lost to Milan in the Super Cup final. Back in Serie A, they did not lose until the trip to Florence, where they faced Fiorentina and lost 3-0. Not long after, Juventus also beat them in Turin in mid- February. Since then, they remained unbeaten in all competitions until the defeat to Bologna in April. That defeat started a run of poor form that has seen them lose to Milan in the Coppa Italia semis and lose their lead at the top of Serie A.
Inter, who entered the month of April on the verge of a treble, are currently scrambling for just one title – the UEFA Champions League, where they have reached the semifinals (v. Barcelona). Inter have won just once in their past six games in all competitions, and will need Napoli to slip up, while they win all their games to win the Scudetto again.
On the other hand, Lazio started the season with a 3-1 defeat of Venezia at home before losing 2-1 to Udinese in the second game of the season. Le Aquilotti then drew 2-2 with Milan in the following game of the season. Lazio returned to winning ways on match day four with a 2-1 win over Verona at Stadio Olimpico. Boulaye Dia and Taty Castellanos scored for them in the win. However, a second loss of the Serie A season was handed to them by Fiorentina in the next game.
In Europe, Lazio began their Europa League sojourn with a comprehensive 3-0 drubbing of Dynamo Kyiv. Dia scored on either side of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s exquisite finish in Hamburg. Back in Serie A, Lazio fought hard to beat Torino 3-2 before another 4-1 win over Nice in the Europa League kept their 100% record intact in Europe. By the time they beat Empoli 2-1 in their next Serie A game, it took their winning streak to four games. However, Juventus stopped them by inflicting a 1-0 defeat on them in mid-October. Lazio then went on a six-game winning streak in all competitions – their best spell of the season.
Lazio had a fantastic 2024, but their inconsistency has cost them in 2025. They were dumped out of the Coppa Italia by Inter Milan, while lowly-rated Bodo Glimt knocked them out of the Europa League. In recent weeks, they have won two of their past three Serie A games to continue their chase for a UCL spot for next season.
This will be the third meeting between Inter and Lazio in all competitions this season, with the Milan side winning the previous two without conceding a goal. It is safe to say they have dominated the side from the capital, and will be full of confidence ahead of this clash.
Torino and Inter have met 31 times since 2003. Inter have won 26 times, Lazio have won 14 times, and the remaining 12 meetings have ended in stalemates.

Prediction
This is a big game for both teams at the time of writing. Inter are guaranteed a place in the UCL for next season, but that is not what they are after. They allowed Napoli to overtake them in the race for the Scudetto, and are now doing the chase with three games to go.
Meanwhile, fans are advised to get their Inter Milan tickets early enough.
On the other hand, Lazio have had a mixed season and are looking to book their place in the UCL for next season too. They are part of the chasing pack that includes Juventus, Roma, Lazio, and Bologna.
Inter won the reverse fixture 6-0, but this encounter might be a different one. In addition, Inter have won four of the past five meetings between them at home.
