“Insecurity is always loud,” Draymond Green mocks Rudy Gobert on Twitter after he punches Kyle Anderson

On Sunday, Draymond Green made Rudy Gobert eat his words

During a timeout in Sunday’s game between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Gobert and his teammate Kyle Anderson got into a heated exchange, and the three-time Defensive Player of the Year struck Anderson in a team huddle.

Minnesota won the game and clinched the No. 8 seed in the play-in tournament despite being separated by teammates and coaching staff, but the backlash was far from over.

It was the ideal opportunity for Green to repay the favor and troll Gobert.

Green’s message, for those who don’t remember, is in response to a tweet Gobert sent out after Green and Warriors teammate Jordan Poole got into a scuffle at practice back in October.

“Insecurity is always loud,” Gobert tweeted on October 7. It’s unclear whether Gobert’s tweet was intended to be a dig at Green, but the Warriors veteran forward certainly took it that way.

What is known is that the Timberwolves may now enter the postseason without two of their key players.

On Sunday, Gobert was ruled out for the rest of the game and was reportedly sent home. Tim Connelly, the Timberwolves’ president of basketball operations, later issued a statement confirming the decision to send Gobert home for “unacceptable” behavior and stating that the situation would be handled internally.

Rudy Gobert took to his Twitter and wrote “Emotions got the best of me today. I should not have reacted the way I did regardless of what was said. I wanna apologize to the fans, the organisation and particularly to Kyle, who is someone that I truly love and respect as a teammate.”

Soon after Gobert left, the Timberwolves ruled Jaden McDaniels out with a right-hand injury sustained when the third-year pro punched a wall on his way into the tunnel. McDaniels was later seen icing it on the bench, and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski later reported that he fractured his hand.

With so many unknowns on Sunday, the NBA can always count on Green to be himself.

For those unversed, let us tell you, Rudy is a French professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Minnesota Timberwolves. He previously played for the Utah Jazz, who selected him in the NBA draft in 2013.

Gobert also competes for France’s national team in international competitions. He plays the center position and stands 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall with a wingspan of 7 ft 9 in (2.36 m). He is regarded as one of the best rim protectors in the NBA.

The 30-year-old is tied for third in NBA history with three NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards. He has four All-NBA Team selections, six All-Defensive First Team selections, and three NBA All-Star appearances.
