In the final 16 laps of the race, there were three accidents.
The 107th running of the Indy 500 was exciting. In the final 16 laps, there were three incidents, and several drivers, including Rossi and Ericsson, criticised the restarts.
First, Kyle Kirkwood clipped his tyre while attempting to avoid spinning after Felix Rosenqvist collided with a wall. Kirkwood’s car’s tyre blasted forward, directly at the spectators in the stands. Replays show that the tyre at the racecourse missed the crowd and landed between the stands.
When the race restarted, Pato O’Ward, who had been leading Marcus Ericsson and Joseph Newgarden, was passed. With eight circuits remaining, he made a bold drive to pass Ericsson and pursue Newgarden in an effort to regain his position but fell out.

When Benjamin Pedersen, Ed Carpenter, and Graham Rahal crashed on the restart exactly at the start-finish line with four laps remaining and Newgarden in the lead, the race was once more red-flagged. Just before the caution came out, Ericsson overtook Newgarden on the restart, ensuring that he would start the race’s last restart at the front of the pack.
With one lap remaining, the green flag flew once more, and Ericsson initially expanded his lead over Newgarden. Ericsson was overtaken by Newgarden, who then sped by him on the back straightaway to retake the lead.
From that point on, Newgarden had an easy ride to the finish line. She slid over the fence to rejoice among the onlookers before making her way to victory lane for the customary winner’s bottle of milk.
