The BNP Paribas Open is a tennis tournament held in Indian Wells, California, United States. It is also known as the Indian Wells Masters and Indian Wells Open. Every year in early to mid-March, this annual tennis tournament takes place.

What Is The Indian Wells Masters Or BNP Paribas Open

This tournament is now owned by Larry Ellison, executive chairman and co-founder of Oracle. The current tournament director is Tommy Haas, a former world No. 2 player. It was founded by two former tennis players, Charlie Pasarell and Raymond Moore.

Men’s tour is categorized in the Masters 1000 tournaments. The ATP Masters 1000 events, formerly known as the ATP Masters Series, are an annual series of nine tennis tournaments featuring the ATP Tour’s top-ranked players.

The main draw for men usually starts on Wednesday, with the finals the following week on Sunday. The main draws for men’s singles feature 96 players in a 128-player grid, with the top 32 seeds earning a bye to the second round.

It was a non-tour event between 1974 and 1976, before becoming a Grand Prix Tennis Tour subsidiary tournament from 1977 until 1986.

In 1987, however, it was promoted to the Grand Prix Super Series, a nine-tournament series that ranks third in importance behind the four majors and the year-end championships. As the year’s first Super Series event, it took the place of the Philadelphia Indoor.

Indian Wells Masters 2022 Prize Money Pool Distribution For Both Men’s Singles And Doubles

After a decreased prize pool last year, normal operation in Miami has finally returned. The entire prize pool for 2022 is now $17,168,110. This is an increase of 156.72% over the previous year.

With a few exceptions, the prize money for the Miami Open has been consistent since 2006.

That means each tour is vying for a piece of the $8,584,055 prize pool, with the 2022 Miami Open Champion taking home $1,231,245, a 310.26% increase over Hubert Hurkacz and Ash Barty’s rewards last year.
