Army sources confirmed that Army Dog Zoom, who had surgery after being hurt during a gunfight with militants in Kashmir’s Anantnag, passed away on Thursday.

An official Army source said,
Army dog Zoom, under treatment at 54 AFVH (Advance Field Veterinary Hospital), passed away around 12 noon today. He was responding well till around 11:45 am when he suddenly started gasping & collapsed.
Taking to Twitter, the official Twitter account of the Northern Command of the Indian Army tweeted,
Army Commander Northern Command condoles the death of Assault Dog ‘Zoom’. Injured in line of duty in operation at Tangpawa #Ananatnag, he finally breathed the last on 13 October 2022. A real hero in service to the #Nation.

Who Was Army Dog Zoom?
Army dog Zoom was a brave dog who was the part of Indian Army. He has been in the news because passed away recently after succumbing to injuries he acquired during the anti-terrorist operation in Kashmir’s Anantnag.
He was born on September 2020. He was of Malinois or Belgian shepherd breed.
He was two years and one month old when he died.
His Stint With The Indian Army
Army dog Zoom enlisted in the Army and served in the 28th Army Dog Unit (ADU) for eight months. The Army consists of 32 units, 19 of which are dog units assigned to the Northern Command. There are 24 distinct breeds of dogs in each canine unit.
At the time of his death, he was a part of Operation Tangpawas’s combat team.
Cause Of Death Of Army Dog Zoom
Following specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, security personnel began a cordon and searched operation in the Tangpawa neighborhood of the Anantnag district in South Kashmir on October 10 night.
On Monday morning at first light, the army dispatched Zoom, an assault dog, inside the home where the terrorists were taking cover.
Zoom found the terrorists and attacked them. However, the terrorists then started firing at Zoom, critically injuring him.
Zoom’s adaptability may be shown in the fact that he persisted in fighting alongside the terrorists despite suffering gunshot wounds. He kept them occupied until the two Lashkar terrorists could be killed by the military.
According to officials, he was shot twice by terrorists during this operation. Soon, he was taken in at the Army Veterinary Hospital for his treatment. His health improved, and the medication worked well on the dog.
The dog appeared OK up until midday when it suddenly started wheezing and succumbed to his injuries.
