India vs Sri Lanka Series Schedule To Be Changed As COVID Pummels The Sri Lankan Ranks

India is set to play a 3-match ODI and a 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The India vs Sri Lanka schedule for this series will be changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the first time has sent two different Indian squads for two different tours at the same time. The first choice Indian squad with all the big names is in England.

They first played the final of the inaugural World Test Championship against New Zealand. They are now scheduled to play a 5-match test series against England starting from the 4th of August.

Sri Lanka vs India Cricket ODI And T20 Series

India is also scheduled to play a ODI and a T20I series consisting of 3 matches in each series against Sri Lanka from the starting from the 13th of July. Shikhar Dhawan is selected to lead this squad and Rahul Dravid is the head coach for this tour. There are many young faces in this squad.

The likes of Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Chahar, Chetan Sakariya, Devdutt Paddikal, and Prtihvi Shaw etc are part of this tour of Sri Lanka. Some senior players in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzveendra Chahal etc are also in the squad.

India vs Sri Lanka Schedule for ODIS and T20Is to be Changed

Speculations are that the 3 One Day Internationals and the 3 T20 Internationals will be rescheduled after a couple of Covid cases in the Sri Lankan camp just before the series.

The ODIs series will start on 17th July instead of 13th and the other two ODIs will be played on 19th and 21st of July. The T20I series will start from 24th July and the second and third T20Is will be played on 25th and 27th July respectively.

Sri Lankan batting coach Grant Flower and video analyst GT Niroshan had tested Covid-19 positive and both are in isolation. The whole Sri Lankan team and the staff members in isolation as well.

Earlier, Grant Flower was the only one to have tested positive after the Lankan team’s return from the UK. They played 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against England. Coincidentally, 7 members including 3 players from the English camp have been tested positive as well. ECB then announced a new 18-member squad for the series against Pakistan under the leadership of Ben Stokes.

“The Data Analyst of the Sri Lanka National Team, G.T. Niroshan, has tested positive for Covid 19. Niroshan is now undergoing due medical protocols”, said Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced.
