Sindhu’s last appearance was at the Syed Modi India International in November-December, where she ended a two-year title drought by winning the BWF Super 300 tournament. In her first match at the India Open, Sindhu will face Shuo Yun Sung of Chinese Taipei in the women’s singles. India’s challenge in women’s singles will also be represented by Malvika Bansod, Aakarshi Kashyap, Anupama Upadhyaya, and Rakshita Sree.
The men’s singles draw will see top stars like Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, and Paris 2024 semi-finalists Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy in action. Shetty and Rankireddy, who were semi-finalists at the recently concluded Malaysia Open 2025, were the champions at the 2022 edition of the India Open. The duo is expected to face tough competition from Paris 2024 silver medallists Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China, and bronze medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia.
Former world number 1 Kidambi Srikanth and Kiran George will also compete in the men’s singles, with the late withdrawals of top seed Shi Yuqi of China and eighth seed Antony Ginting of Indonesia opening up the field. In the women’s doubles, India’s challenge will be spearheaded by Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand and the Paris 2024 Olympians Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto.
