With eight games played, the Indian team has 16 points and has won all eight of their group-stage matches. Whatever happens in their last group stage match against the Netherlands, the hosts and the squad will top the World Cup 2023 standings. The Blues will face the one finishing fourth in the group stage.

Meanwhile, India’s today’s opponents, South Africa have also made their place into the semifinals of the tournament. However, they can’t be the opponents of the Indian team as they would only place second or third. Talking about Australia, if they win one of their two games, they will assuredly advance to the second or third round as well.

It’s either New Zealand, Pakistan or Afghanistan. The Sri Lankan and Dutch team on the other hand has an outstanding chance to grab the last four place. The Afghani team will have to clinch at least one match to make a chance for their qualification to the semifinal spot. After defeating Netherlands by 7 wickets at the Ekana Stadium on Friday, Afghanistan proceeded their way towards the last four.

If Pakistan and New Zealand both win their most recent matches and if Afghanistan also wins, the outcome may depend on the net run rates of the three sides. It’s also likely that the final match between New Zealand and India will be rained out because rain is expected in Bengaluru all this week. In that scenario, they will only have nine points, and to get back to eight, they will need to pray that Pakistan and Afghanistan lose their next games.

The semifinal match between India and its opponents will be played in Mumbai on November 15 however, if Pakistan qualifies for the semifinals, the match will be played in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
