Bhavinaben Patel

Gujarat’s Bhavina Patel won India’s first Tokyo Paralympics 2020 medal on August 29, 2021. Bhavinaben won the silver medal in Class 4 Table Tennis after she lost to China’s Ying Zhou 7-11, 5-11, 6-11. Bhavinaben Patel became the second woman ever to win a medal at the Paralympic games.

Nishad Kumar

India recorded its second medal at the Paralympics after High Jumper Nishad Kumar won a silver medal in the Men’s High Jump T47 category. This was the first Paralympic event for the 21-year-old athlete. With this win, Nishad Kumar has set a new Asian record of 2.06m in the High Jump category.

Avani Lekhara

India registered its first gold medal on August 30, 2021, as Avani Lekhara won a gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle SH1 category. With this win, Shooter Avani Lekhara became the first Indian woman ever to win a gold medal at the Paralympic stage. The 19-year-old is the current World No. 5 in 10m Air Rifle SH1.

Yogesh Kathuniya

Delhi’s Yogesh Kathuniya won India’s fourth Paralympic medal on August 30, 2021. Yogesh Kathuniya won a silver medal at the Men’s Discus Throw F56 game. Kathuniya secured the silver medal for India when he recorded a discus throw distance of 44.38m.

Devendra Jhajharia

Devendra Jhajharia’s silver medal marked India’s fifth medal and the third medal for India on August 30, 2021. Rajasthan’s hero won the silver medal in Javelin Throw in the F46 Category as he recorded a new personal record of 64.35m. This silver medal became Jhajharia’s third Paralympic medal so far.

Sundar Singh Gurjar

It was a splendid day for the Javelin Throw athletes of India, as Sundar Singh Gurjar won the bronze medal in the F56 Category alongside Devendra Jhajharia. The 25-year-old recorded a distance of 64.01m to secure his bronze medal.

Sumit Antil

Haryana’s Sumit Antil joined the Javelin Throw winning party as he won the gold medal in the F64 category. The interesting thing about Sumit Antil is that this was his maiden Paralympics event, and he broke the previous world record in all his five attempts. His final attempt marked a new world record at 68.55m. The Javelin Throw athletes have given their best performance as Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and now Sumit Antil, Sundar Singh Gurjar and Devendra Jhajharia have won medals for India.

August 31, 2021

Singhraj Adhana

39-year-old Singhraj Adhana started India’s medal hunt on August 31, 2021, with a bronze medal in the Men’s P1 10 metre air pistol SH1 category. Adhana’s medal resulted in India’s second medal in the Shooting section. This was Singhraj Adhana’s Paralympic debut and he performed in style.

Mariyappan Thangavelu

Tamil Nadu’s Mariyappan Thangavelu won the silver medal in the Men’s High Jump T63 category on August 31, 2021. Mariyappan Thangavelu completed the 1.86m jump to secure his silver medal. Thangavelu had previously won a gold medal in the Rio Paralympics 2016.

Sharad Kumar

Sharad Kumar won the bronze medal in the Men’s High Jump T63 category along with Mariyappan Thangavelu who won the silver. Sharad Kumar made a 1.83m jump to win the bronze medal for India. The 29-year-old is a former World No. 1 in High Jump.

September 3, 2021

Praveen Kumar

Noida’s Praveen Kumar has shocked everyone by winning a silver medal at his Paralympic debut at just 18 years of age. Praveen Kumar won the silver medal in the Men’s High Jump T64 category as he also broke the previous Asian record and recorded a new record of 2.07m. Praveen Kumar became the youngest Indian medal winner at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Avani Lekhara

Avani Lekhara shone once again!ย  After her previous gold medal win on August 30, 2021, Avani Lekhara won the bronze medal in the 50m Rifle 3 position SH1 Category. The 19-year-old became the first Indian woman, to win two medals at the Paralympics.

Harvinder Singh

Haryana’s Harvinder Singh became the first Paralympic athlete to win a medal in archery for India on September 3, 2021. Singh won the bronze medal after defeating South Korea’s Kim Min Su at the Men’s individual archery recurve category.

September 4, 2021

Manish Narwal

Faridabad’s Manish Narwal won a gold medal in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 category. This marked India’s third gold medal at the Paralympics on the second last day of the Paralympics. Manish Narwal is the current World No 4 in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 criteria.

Singhraj Adhana

After winning a bronze medal on August 31, 2021, Singhraj Adhana came back in action and won the silver medal in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 category along with his fellow Indian partner Manish Narwal.

Pramod Bhagat

Bihar’s Pramod Bhagat has made badminton fans overwhelmed after defeating Daniel Bethell to win a gold medal in Para-Badminton Men’s Singles SL3 section. Para-shuttler Pramod Bhagat is the World No. 1 in Para-badminton Men’s Singles SL3.

Manoj Sarkar

Uttarakhand’s Manoj Sarkar defeated Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara to win the bronze medal in the Para-Badminton Men’s Singles SL3 category. Para-shuttler Pramod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar could have faced each other in the Men’s Singles SL3 finals, but Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell defeated Manoj Sarkar in the semifinals.

Suhas Yathiraj

The current World No. 2 in Para-Badminton Men’s Singles SL4 division, Suhas Yathiraj won the silver medal on the final day of the Tokyo Paralympics. Suhas Yathiraj got defeated by Lucas Mazur of France in the finals.

Krishna Nagar

“All’s Well That End’s Well”. 22-year-old Krishna Nagar ended India’s Tokyo Paralympics 2020 journey in a perfect fashion. Nagar won a gold medal in the Para-Badminton Men’s Singles SH6 category by defeating Hong-Kong’s Chu Man Kai in the finals.
