Iga Świątek wins first Cincinnati Open Title

Świątek carries Wimbledon form to Cincinnati, sends strong signal ahead of US Open
Cincinnati, Ohio, August 19, 2025 – On athlete, Iga Świątek, prevailed over Italian Jasmine Paolini in the Cincinnati final, becoming the first Polish player in the Open era to win a singles title at the event.

Paolini started fast, breaking Świątek in the opening game and racing to a three-game lead. Świątek then held her serve at 3-1, saving a crucial break point to get on the board. This seemed to turn the tide, as she then broke Paolini twice to level the score at 4-3 and held serve once more to go up 5-3. Paolini battled back, breaking Świątek as she served for the set, but the Polish player immediately responded with another break to seal the first set 7-5 in 56 minutes.

In the second set, Świątek and Paolini traded breaks of serve back and forth, but ultimately it was Swiatek who managed to convert a perfect six-for-six break points to take the second set 6-4 and lift her first Cincinnati Open Title.
