Race 1 results of Asia Production 250cc class (AP250 class): Kavin Quintal and Mohsin Paramban finished today’s race at 17th and 20th position, respectively.
Chang International Circuit, Buriram (Thailand), 12 December 2024: The riders of the IDEMITSU Honda Racing India team took the challenge of Race 1 of Round 6 of the 2024 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship held at the legendary Chang International Circuit, Buriram in Thailand today.
The Indian duo, Kavin Quintal and Mohsin Paramban, completed today’s race with determination and consistency in the fiercely competitive Asia Production 250cc (AP250) class.
Kavin Quintal, the 19-year-old racing prodigy from Chennai started the 10-lap race from the 18th grid position and navigated the intense fight with determination. Despite the tough competition and Chang’s high-speed corners, he showed resilience and strategic race craft, managing to maintain his position. Kavin finished 17th after a hard-fought race today, crossing the chequered flag with a total time of 19:19.129.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Paramban starting from 23rd on the grid, also put up a brave fight. Facing a highly competitive field, Mohsin held his ground, maintaining consistent lap times and gaining valuable experience on the demanding circuit. He finished the race in 20th place with a total time of 19:55.959.
The team couldn’t earn any point in Race 1 of Round 6, and their cumulative points currently stand at 13 points for the season in the Asia Production 250cc (AP250) class.
IDEMITSU Honda Racing India rider Kavin Quintal said, “It was a challenging race from the outset. The Chang Circuit’s demanding layout required intense focus, especially starting from 18th position. I gave it my all today, but there’s still room for improvement. Tomorrow presents a new opportunity, and I’m ready to push even harder.”
IDEMITSU Honda Racing India rider Mohsin Paramban said, “The race was intense, and the competition in the AP250 class is fierce. Starting from 23rd, I knew I had to keep pushing, but the Chang Circuit is challenging. A momentary lapse in focus can be costly due to its sharp corners. Although the result wasn’t what I hoped for, I’m taking the positives from today and looking forward to delivering a stronger performance tomorrow.”
About 2024 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC): The 27th edition of FIM Asia Road Racing Championship is Asia’s most competitive motorcycle road racing championship, held since 1996. The 2024 season has six rounds beginning with the official test and season opener at the Chang International Circuit (Thailand) from 15-17 March 2024. In April 2024, the Zhuhai International Circuit, China hosted the second leg while in June and July Round 3 and Round 4 were held at Mobility Resort Motegi, Japan, and Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, Indonesia, respectively. The previous round 5 was hosted at Sepan International circuit in Malaysia. The host venue for the final Round 6 for 2024 is Chang International Circuit, Thailand.
